Meadow Mountain w/ The Wooks
January 11 @ 9:00 pm$10.00
A band in the truest sense of the word, Meadow Mountain is a whole larger than the sum of its parts. Born of a group of best friends picking tunes and studying music together, camaraderie and a shared passion for the tradition of American folk music remain the central pillars of the band. Based out of Denver, Meadow Mountain fully embraces their progressive Colorado sound while at the same time drawing heavily on the hard driving traditional Bluegrass of the South. The band melds influences from Punch Brothers to Jr. Sisk and Rambler’s Choice creating their own distinct brand of acoustic string music that has garnered attention from Bluegrass fans across the country and helped them to win the RockyGrass Band Contest in 2017. Their debut album, produced by Chris Pandolfi, was released on November 2nd 2018 on the Infamous Stringdusters’ label, Tape Time Records. Meadow Mountain is Summers Baker- guitar, Jack Dunlevie- mandolin, Sam Armstrong-Zickefoose- banjo, Ian Parker- fiddle, and Wilson Luallen- bass.
The Wooks are a Kentucky based band energetically honoring the sound of traditional bluegrass and mountain music. Capturing a moment, and a place — its past, people, and terrain within a song, The Wooks harness the rich musical and storytelling traditions of Kentucky into a new, old sound that embraces both string-music heritage and rock ‘n roll, jam, and singer-songwriter influences. Since 2014, the band, CJ Cain (lead guitar, vocals), Harry Clark (mandolin, vocals), Roddy Puckett (bass, vocals), George Guthrie (Banjo), have delivered a raw, boot stomping, sing-along to every song, good-time bluegrass show, “…with improv-savvy interplay that endears the band to jam music fans and bluegrass traditionalists alike,” according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
