John Ginty has literally covered a lot of ground. Fresh off playing Hammond B-3 for the Dixie Chicks on their MMXVII World Tour, Ginty will be hitting the road with his own band this summer in support of their latest release on the American Showplace Music Label, Rockers, which debuted at #10 on the Billboard Blues Chart.
Ginty has spent years as a successful sideman, playing keys with legendary artists such as Citizen Cope, Santana, Jewel, Charlie Mars and many more. John was also a founding member of Robert Randolph & the Family Band, where he received two Grammy nominations.
In the past few years, Ginty has solidified himself as a solo artist. His first offering on American Showplace Music, 2013’s Bad News Travels, features A-List artists such as Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule), Albert Castiglia and Neal Casal. His sophomore album, No Filter was named RMR’s #1 Blues/Rock album of 2015 and featured a groundbreaking performance by hip-hop legend, Redman. Both studio albums, along with a Live CD/DVD, receive regular airplay on Sirius/XM’s Bluesville channel, as well as over 300 FM radio stations. Ginty’s live band consists of some of New Jersey’s finest musicians including Mike Buckman on guitar, Maurice “mOe” Watson on drums and vocals, and Justine Gardner on bass. The powerful 4-piece is as fun to watch as it is to listen to.
“I recently saw the band perform live in Orlando, and I can honestly say that Ginty is one of the best Hammond B-3 players I have ever heard. The band plays with an interwoven passion and intensity that shines on every note. They played an extended jam that was so frenetic, Ginty paused at the end to ask, “Is everybody alright?” A band just doesn’t get much tighter than that!”
