Cool of the Day is Barb’s newest cd, released in December 2016. It is an acoustic guitar & vocal project. Original blues & songs from the heart. The Nevertheless track is charting on the Roots Music Charts.
Barb’s cd, Zamar, is produced by multi-gold record producer, Lynn Nichols. Phil Keaggy is guest artist and Barb and Phil exchange guitar solos in Day by Day. Zamar is a mix of swing, jazzy blues and original feel that will keep your toes tappin’ and your heart touched!
Barb was a semi-finalist in 2008 & 2005 International Blues Challenge competition in Memphis, TN in the solo/duo category. She won the Blues Challenge Peoples’ Choice in October 2004, in the solo/duo category.
She performs a mix of jazzy blues, 60-70’s, gospel & country music with a rhythmic feel, incorporating bass lines, chords and lead guitar. Her voice gives a moving, heart felt rendition of the song being sung.
Barb continues to lead praise & worship, as a psalmist with a prophetic and creative flow, which she’s done for over 30 years. Thirteen of those years full-time on staff as worship/music leader with a large music team. She also teaches worship leading and practical applications for musicians.
Barb grew up in a family of professional musicians studying classical music, first on the piano and then the violin. She picked up the guitar when she was 12 yrs.old, teaching herself. Early 70’s, late 60’s music and blues were a strong musical influence, especially BB King, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt & Santana.
